JUST IN: Bandits Launch Attack In Kano, kidnap Many Residents Including Girls

Bandits have invaded Biresawa village in Tsanyawa LGA of Kano State, abducting several people, including women and girls. The armed men also struck the neighbouring Sundu community, both located along the Katsina–Kano border — an area increasingly targeted by criminal groups despite a recent peace pact in nearby Katsina LGAs.ADS 5

Security analyst Bakatsine confirmed the attack on X, warning that raids were shifting toward border villages.

Residents said the attackers stormed the area between 11 p.m. and midnight on Monday, taking at least eight people — two men and six women. Affected families say they have received no information on the victims’ whereabouts.

One resident, Kabiru Usman, whose wife and daughter were kidnapped, said the bandits arrived on foot through Tsundu, heavily armed. He added that villagers had alerted security agencies earlier after hearing reports that the attackers were approaching.

Rising insecurity has forced many residents to flee, leaving several communities deserted. Many displaced families are now taking refuge in Faruruwa or relocating to urban areas.

Kano Police spokesperson SP Abdullahi Kiyawa had yet to respond to inquiries as of press time.

This latest incident comes weeks after bandits abducted five women from Yan Kwada village in Shanono LGA, shortly after a military operation in the area killed 19 bandits.Headline news
