During the visit, Vice Admiral Abbas inspected key naval infrastructure projects, including the proposed Nigerian Navy Hospital, the permanent site of Nigerian Navy Ship SOROH, and officers’ accommodation at Palm Estate. He also toured Camp PORBENI, headquarters of the Central Naval Command, reviewing ongoing developments and commending the leadership for maintaining high standards in base management.

The visit held personal significance, as Vice Admiral Abbas had previously served at Camp PORBENI in leadership roles, including Command Administrative Officer and Flag Officer Commanding.

At a strategic briefing at the Headquarters of Operation Delta Safe (OPDS), the CNS directed commanders to prioritize troop welfare while intensifying efforts against crude oil theft and maritime crimes—persistent challenges in the region. He praised the troops’ dedication, emphasized strong leadership, and pledged the Navy’s continued support for joint task forces.

Vice Admiral Abbas expressed satisfaction with the command’s developmental progress and lauded the management for prioritizing the welfare of officers, ratings, and civilian staff, linking these efforts directly to operational excellence.

Concluding the visit, he engaged with personnel to address their concerns, assuring them of ongoing support and acknowledging their resilience. The CNS’s working visit reinforced the Nigerian Navy’s strategic focus and revitalized morale among forces in the economically and strategically vital Niger Delta.
