CNS Visits Bayelsa, Reaffirms Navy’s Resolve to Combat Oil Theft

Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), paid a working visit to Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, where he reiterated the Navy’s commitment to boosting personnel welfare and strengthening maritime security across the Niger Delta.

During the visit, the Naval Chief inspected several key infrastructure projects, including the proposed Nigerian Navy Hospital, the permanent site of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) SOROH, and newly developed accommodation facilities for personnel at Palm Estate, Yenagoa.

At the Headquarters of Operation Delta Safe (OPDS), Vice Admiral Abbas received an operational briefing and directed field commanders to maintain focus on troop welfare while intensifying the fight against crude oil theft and other maritime crimes. He commended the dedication of the troops and encouraged them to remain vigilant, assuring them of the Navy’s continuous support.

Returning to the Central Naval Command, the CNS expressed satisfaction with the ongoing developments and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting officers, ratings, and civilian staff. He applauded the command’s leadership for its efforts in maintaining high operational standards and promoting personnel welfare—key factors in achieving the Navy’s security objectives.

Vice Admiral Abbas rounded off his tour with a discussion session, addressing concerns raised by personnel and assuring them that their welfare would remain a top priority. The visit ultimately boosted morale and reinforced the Navy’s determination to protect Nigeria’s maritime environment and critical economic assets in the Niger Delta.
