Bandits gun down policeman in Zamfara, steal his weapon

A mobile police officer attached to Operation Restore Peace was shot dead in an ambush by armed bandits in Adabka village, Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Security expert Zagazola Makam reported that the incident occurred on Tuesday when the officer, deployed from Mopol 15 in Ilorin, left his post in Adabka and was heading to Tibis village to buy essential supplies.

He explained that the operative was attacked on the outskirts of Adabka by bandits hiding in nearby bushes. The attackers opened fire, killing the officer instantly before stealing his service riot gun.

According to the source, field teams sent to the location recovered the officer’s body and transported it to the Adabka Primary Health Care Centre for documentation.

Insecurity in Nigeria continues to claim the lives of both civilians and security personnel, fueling concerns that bandits and terrorists may possess greater firepower than the nation’s security forces.
