The FCTA Department of Land Administration has revoked 1,095 properties in the Federal Capital Territory over failure to pay ground rent, complete land-use conversion, or settle Certificate of Occupancy bills.
The decision was announced in a statement issued over the weekend by the management of the department, which stated that strict enforcement would now be carried out against defaulting plot holders.

The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, reportedly approved the enforcement action after a 14-day grace period expired on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.
Out of the 1,095 defaulters, 835 were listed as ground rent defaulters, while 260 were listed for land-use contravention payment issues.
The list included file numbers, plot numbers, CADZONE, districts, rent owed, and revocation dates. Properties belonged to federal and state governments, private businesses, and several prominent individuals.

Some notable individuals listed include former Chief of Army Staff Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma; former First Lady Patience Jonathan; former Senate President David Mark; former Jigawa State governor Sule Lamido; Senator Ali Ndume; former PDP national chairman Abubakar Kawu Baraje; former Osun State deputy governor Senator Iyiola Omisore; the Emir of Ilorin Ibrahim Sulu Gambari; elder statesman Professor Bolaji Akinyemi; elder statesman Tony Anenih; and former Minister of Petroleum Alison Madueke.
Former governors such as Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano), Adeniyi Adebayo (Ekiti), Donald Duke (Cross River), Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto), Ibrahim Dankwambo (Gombe), Ayodele Fayose (Ekiti), and Olagunsoye Oyinlola (Osun) were also affected.

Others on the list include Minister of State for Industry John Owan Enoh, Aminu Alhassan Dantata, Bashir Tofa, Audu Abubakar, Bello Mohamed Sani, Mohammed Rabiu, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim (Ondo), Ado Abdullahi Bayero, Tanko Abdullahi, Adetunji Olurin, Ghali Umar Na’abba, Dorcas Kuforiji Olubi, Olu Agunloye, Kamorudeen Adekunle Adedibu, Hakeem Baba Ahmed, Iyabo Olusola Obasanjo, Shehu Musa Labaran, Onaolapo Olusegun Soleye and Babatunde Idiagbon.
Major institutions listed include the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Nigeria Navy, the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Federal Ministry of Finance, the Nigeria Police, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the governments of Borno, Kaduna, and Oyo States.

Private organizations such as BUA International Limited, First Bank of Nigeria, Standard Trust Bank, Guaranty Trust Bank, Ecobank, Union Bank, United Bank for Africa, Zenith Bank, the Niger Delta Development Commission, the Committee of Vice Chancellors of Federal Universities, and the National Union of Road Transport Workers were also named.
According to the FCTA, the publication of the defaulting properties followed several notices issued across newspapers, online platforms, and television stations, urging the defaulters to settle their outstanding financial obligations.

The statement noted that by failing to comply, the individuals and organizations had violated Section 28, Subsection 5(a) and (b) of the Land Use Act, as well as the terms and conditions of their respective Rights of Occupancy.
This development comes shortly after Wike’s recent clash with some military officers over a parcel of land in Abuja, an incident that trended online and drew calls for his removal from office.
