Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has commended the Igbo people, describing them as one of the country’s most dynamic and industrious groups.

Speaking on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the Imo Economic Stakeholders Summit in Owerri, Shettima highlighted the significant contributions of Ndigbo to the nation’s growth.

According to him, the Igbo are known for their mobility, strong entrepreneurial spirit, and remarkable pursuit of education.

He stated, “Nigeria is stronger with Ndigbo fully represented. Our responsibility—as a government and as citizens—is to equip them with the tools and opportunities they need to reach their full potential.”

The Vice President further emphasized the community’s economic impact, noting that a large portion of Abuja’s real estate and a major part of Lagos’ population are dominated by Ndigbo.

“There is hardly any part of Nigeria where you won’t find the Igbo,” he added. “And if you don’t see them in a place, it’s better to question that area.”

Shettima also reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting Imo State in attracting investments and expanding development.
“Imo is open for investment. Nigeria is open for investment. This administration is ready to partner with you for progress,” he said.
