Lagos APC Mourns Death of Former Deputy Governor’s Son

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is in mourning following the death of Dr. Oluwafemi Olawale Adefulire, the only son of former Deputy Governor, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire.

Dr. Adefulire reportedly passed away in the early hours of Wednesday in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, after undergoing surgery. He was based in the United Kingdom and is survived by his wife and children.

A family source described the loss as a devastating blow to both the family and Lagos’ political community.

Reacting on Thursday, APC Lagos Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo, expressed profound grief, saying the party was deeply saddened by the passing of the son of one of its respected leaders.

“It’s a tragedy every parent dreads. The APC is heartbroken. Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire is an exceptional person, and her loss is felt across the party and the state. May his soul rest in peace,” Oladejo said.

Princess Orelope-Adefulire, a veteran in Lagos politics, served as Deputy Governor from 2011 to 2015 under former Governor Babatunde Fashola. She currently serves as Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a position she also held under former President Muhammadu Buhari before being reappointed in September 2023.

With over two decades in public service, including eight years as Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Princess Orelope-Adefulire remains a key political figure. She is the APC Political Apex Leader of Alimosho Federal Constituency and a member of the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC).

As of now, the family has not released details regarding the burial arrangements.
