President Tinubu Meets Service Chiefs Amid Heightened Security Operations

Abuja — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu convened a closed-door meeting with Nigeria’s Service Chiefs at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa on Monday evening. The session began at approximately 6:01 pm local time, with the security chiefs arriving at the forecourt before being ushered into the President’s office.

This marks President Tinubu’s first engagement with the military high command since the swearing-in of General Christopher Musa (retd.) as Minister of Defence on December 4, 2025. While the official agenda of the meeting remains undisclosed, it comes against a backdrop of pressing security challenges, including the ongoing captivity of 115 students abducted from a Catholic boarding school in November and the recent approval by the Senate for troop deployment to Benin Republic following an attempted coup.

The meeting coincides with intensified military operations across the country. On December 14, 2025, the Nigerian Air Force executed precision air interdiction missions at Dabar Masara, a known terrorist stronghold in the Southern Tumbuns of Borno State. The operation, conducted by the Air Component of Joint Task Force Operation HADIN KAI, targeted a terrorist workshop and vehicles concealed under vegetation, confirmed by post-operation assessments to have been destroyed along with neutralised terrorist elements.

Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, emphasised that intelligence-driven air operations remain crucial in disrupting terrorist networks and strengthening security across the North-East. The military continues to sustain combined air and ground efforts to degrade insurgent capabilities in the region.

In addition, troops of the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace carried out multiple operations in Kaduna and Plateau states between December 11 and 13, 2025. According to JTF spokesman Maj. Samson Zhakom, these missions led to the neutralisation of several kidnappers and the rescue of multiple abducted victims.

On December 11, clearance operations in Dangoma and Godogodo villages in Jema’a LGA, Kaduna State, resulted in the neutralisation of three notorious kidnappers. The following day, a covert operation in Plateau State targeted.
