Rivers State Police killed Two Suspected Kidnappers, Rescue Abducted Woman.
The Rivers State Police Command has reported the killing of two suspected kidnappers, the rescue of an abducted woman, and the recovery of several firearms in a recent operation.

According to a statement from the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the incident occurred along Ozuaha Road in Emohua Local Government Area, where the kidnappers reportedly opened fire on police during a carefully coordinated intelligence-led raid.
The rescued victim, identified only as “F” from Omademe Community, had been abducted on Friday, December 5, 2025. Her family reported the kidnapping on December 9, revealing that the kidnappers demanded a ransom of ₦1.2 million and threatened to kill her if the payment was not made.

In response, operatives from the Anti-Cultism Unit (ACU) Emohua Annexe quickly mobilized and executed a strategic rescue mission. SP Iringe-Koko explained that when the police approached the hideout, the suspects, heavily armed, opened fire. A gun battle ensued, resulting in the deaths of two kidnappers, while others fled into the forest, sustaining injuries.
Police Commissioner CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju praised the officers for their bravery and professionalism, noting that their quick actions ensured the safe recovery of the victim. He also urged members of the public to assist law enforcement by providing any information about the suspects who remain at large.

Recovered from the scene were one pump-action rifle, one locally-made pistol, five live cartridges, and two spent cartridges. These items are now in police custody as part of ongoing investigations.
Kidnapping for ransom has reportedly surged across Nigeria, particularly in the northern regions, prompting President Bola Tinubu to declare a state of emergency on security. While the Rivers State Police operation marks a significant success, authorities continue to stress the importance of community cooperation in combating such crimes.

The Commissioner has vowed to apprehend the remaining suspects, recover any outstanding ransom, and ensure that all responsible parties face justice.
