Former House of Representatives member, Hon. Bimbo Daramola, has praised President Bola Tinubu for prioritising the welfare of military personnel and veterans across the country.
Daramola made the remarks while hosting soldiers in Ekiti State through his Citizens Appreciation Foundation during a Christmas-season outreach. He said the administration’s renewed focus on the welfare of servicemen and women has restored hope and boosted morale within the armed forces.
He stressed that improved conditions of service enhance discipline, professionalism, and commitment, noting that well-supported soldiers are better motivated to carry out their constitutional responsibilities. According to him, timely salaries, decent housing, access to healthcare, and support for soldiers’ families are essential to sustaining morale and loyalty to the nation.
Daramola also commended the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, other service chiefs, and the Minister of Defence for making troop welfare a priority, adding that these efforts have contributed to improved security and stability across the country.
Explaining the purpose of the outreach, he said it was meant to honour soldiers who continue to risk their lives to protect Nigeria, often remaining on duty during festive periods while others celebrate with their families. He described them as patriots who place national duty above personal comfort.
He urged Nigerians to appreciate and support military personnel while they are still in active service, rather than waiting until they retire. Daramola also pledged to continue advocating for public recognition of the sacrifices made by security personnel, noting that such appreciation strengthens civil–military relations and promotes patriotism.
