Tinubu Appoints Speaker Abbas to Lead APC Reconciliation Committee in Benue

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has set up a reconciliation committee for the All Progressives Congress in Benue State, appointing the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, as chairman.

This is the second time the President has assigned the Speaker to such a role, following his earlier appointment to head a similar reconciliation committee in Bauchi State, which has since completed its work.

The Benue committee is tasked with resolving internal disputes within the state chapter of the APC. Its mandate includes identifying the causes of factionalism, engaging party stakeholders to promote unity, recommending reforms to strengthen cohesion, and submitting a detailed report to the President.

Other members of the committee are Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, former Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara, and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political Matters, Ibrahim Masari.

The Chief of Staff to the Speaker, Prof. Jake Dan-Azumi, will serve as secretary, while the Chief of Staff to the Yobe State Governor, Abdullahi Gashua, will be part of the secretariat.

The committee is expected to begin work immediately, engaging stakeholders across the state to restore unity within the party.
