US STRIKES: ADC DEMANDS DETAILS OF TERRORISTS KILLED

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has demanded full disclosure from the Federal Government on the outcome of the United States airstrikes carried out against ISIS targets in Sokoto State.

The United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) launched the airstrikes in the early hours of Friday, targeting ISIS enclaves. Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, confirmed that the U.S. acted with Nigeria’s knowledge and cooperation.

In a statement, ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, described the strikes as evidence of what the party called the “historic incompetence” of President Bola Tinubu’s administration. While acknowledging the need to protect lives, the party blamed governance failures for allowing foreign forces to conduct military operations on Nigerian soil.

Abdullahi warned that reliance on external military action is unsustainable and risks undermining Nigeria’s sovereignty and long-term strategic interests. He questioned Nigeria’s level of control in the operation, cautioning against reducing the country to the role of a “mere informant.”

The ADC called on the Federal Government to clarify who had operational control of the strikes, disclose casualty figures, and provide specific details on the number and identities of terrorists killed.

The party said foreign military intervention should not replace Nigeria-led security operations and insisted that desperation must not compromise national sovereignty.
