President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has left Lagos for Europe to continue his end-of-year holiday and to prepare for an official visit to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
This was disclosed on Sunday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a statement.

According to Onanuga, President Tinubu was invited by the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to participate in the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026), scheduled to hold in early January.
He explained that the week-long summit is an annual global platform that brings together leaders from government, business, and civil society to shape the future of sustainable development.

The statement noted that President Tinubu departed Lagos on Sunday, December 28, for Europe, ahead of his official trip to Abu Dhabi.
ADSW 2026 will be held under the theme “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” and will focus on linking ambition with action across innovation, finance, and human capital, while highlighting pathways for sustainable global progress.

The President is expected to return to Nigeria after the summit.
President Tinubu has recently faced criticism from opposition figures over the frequency of his foreign trips, with reports indicating that he has embarked on nearly 20 international travels in 2025 alone.
