‘HOW MUCH IS HER CLASS?’: MEET QUEEN ZAYNAB WHO HAS MARRIED OONI OF IFE, FORMER GOVERNOR, SENATOR, ARAB PRINCE AND NOW SGF GEORGE AKUME

Queen Zaynab has become a major topic of discussion online following her recent marriage to Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

The Dajoh family formally announced the union on Friday, December 26, 2025. In a statement shared by a family member, Abraham Double-D Dajoh, the family described the marriage as a joyful addition and warmly welcomed Queen Zaynab, referring to her as an “uncommon wife.” The statement also symbolically welcomed her into Benue State, Mbakor—the seat of Tiv leadership—and the Dajoh family home, while wishing Nigerians a happy Christmas and prosperous New Year.

Photographs from the announcement, showing Queen Zaynab with members of the Dajoh family, quickly circulated online and sparked widespread reactions.

Queen Zaynab, formerly known as Zaynab Otiti Obanor, has had a notable marital history. She was previously married to Saminu Turaki, former Governor of Jigawa State (1999–2007) and Senator representing Jigawa North-West (2007–2011).

In March 2016, she married Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife. The marriage ended in divorce in August 2017. At the time, Queen Zaynab publicly confirmed the separation, dismissed rumours surrounding the split, and said she intended to focus on humanitarian work.

She later relocated to Doha, Qatar. In subsequent years, reports linked her to a wealthy Arab prince, with whom she was said to have welcomed a daughter in 2022.

Her marriage to Senator George Akume marks a new chapter in her personal life and has drawn renewed attention due to Akume’s long political career. He previously served as Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs from 2019 to 2023, represented Benue North-West Senatorial District from 2007 to 2019, served as Senate Minority Leader between 2011 and 2015, and was Governor of Benue State from 1999 to 2007.

The marriage has continued to generate mixed reactions online, with many commenting on the prominence and influence of the men Queen Zaynab has married over the years.
