Meghan Markle reportedly reached out privately to King Charles to seek clarification over restrictions placed on her activities while she was a working royal. Since stepping back from official duties in 2020, she has faced criticism for speaking publicly about her experiences within the Royal Family.

Reports indicate that Meghan attempted to address her concerns discreetly by writing to her father-in-law. In the letter, she is said to have raised objections to what she described as “different rules” she was required to follow in comparison with other members of the Royal Family while carrying out her duties.
A veteran royal commentator previously claimed that Meghan “wanted answers” from the King.
According to him, Meghan sought direct engagement with King Charles, writing to him and requesting a private discussion to explain the challenges she encountered after joining the British monarchy.

He further said that Meghan believed she was treated differently from other extended members of the family, including Sarah Ferguson.
He added that Meghan was particularly frustrated that Sarah Ferguson continued to appear on television programmes, promote books, and possibly engage in advertising while using the Duchess of York title under the Royal Family umbrella.
“Meghan and Harry seemingly don’t understand why it’s a different rule for her.”
Five years after stepping away from royal life, Meghan and Prince Harry now live in California with their children, Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four.

The couple have spent seven consecutive Christmas holidays away from the Royal Family, six of them in the United States, and are reportedly spending the New Year holiday with friends.
