Gunmen abducted Maruf Musa, a former member of the Ogun State House of Assembly representing Ogun Waterside constituency (2007–2011), on Tuesday night in Ibiade, Ogun Waterside LGA.
The assailants reportedly fired shots to disperse residents before taking Musa during prayers at a mosque within his compound.
Ogun State Police spokesperson, Babaseyi Boluwatife, confirmed the abduction and said security operatives, including the anti-kidnapping unit, have been deployed to rescue him.
The public has been advised to remain calm while authorities continue efforts to secure Musa’s release.
