SUSPECT LINKED TO MAIDUGURI MOSQUE BOMB BLAST ARRESTED IN YOBE

Ibrahim Mohammed, allegedly involved in the December 24 bomb blast at a Maiduguri mosque, was arrested by a vigilante group in Damaturu, Yobe State.

Mohammed was handed over to troops of Sector 2, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), Joint Task Force North-East for further investigation.

Brig.-Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar (retd), Special Adviser on Security to Governor Mai Mala Buni, said the suspect was arrested on December 29 for allegedly spying on troop and vigilante deployments.

The suspect reportedly admitted to planting another bomb in a Maiduguri market and authorities have been urged to defuse it. Security officials hope his interrogation will lead to the arrest of his collaborators, including cell leaders.

Residents were urged to provide credible information to support security efforts.
