Murtala Garo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy governorship candidate in the 2023 elections, has warmly welcomed Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf into the ruling party, describing the move as a positive step toward political stability and sustainable development in the state.
Garo, a former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, said in a statement on Tuesday that the governor’s defection reflects political foresight and maturity, especially at a time when Kano and Nigeria require unity and inclusive governance.

“I formally welcome His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, into the All Progressives Congress. This is a commendable step in our collective pursuit of political stability, inclusive governance, and sustainable development in Kano State,” the statement read in part.
The APC chieftain praised Yusuf’s leadership style, highlighting his calm demeanor and commitment to public welfare as qualities that set him apart as a leader willing to rise above partisan divides for the sake of peace and progress.
“Through this decisive action, His Excellency has demonstrated the ability to transcend political differences in favor of unity, progress, and harmony,” Garo added.

He also noted that the governor’s move reflects a clear understanding of the political and economic realities facing Kano State and the nation, and expressed confidence that Yusuf’s entry into the APC will strengthen the party’s reform agenda while fostering greater cooperation between the Kano State Government and the Federal Government.
Garo reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC, pledging to collaborate with Governor Yusuf and other stakeholders to advance good governance, political cohesion, and people-centered policies across the state.
