FAMILY SEEKS ANSWERS OVER MOTHER’S DEATH MID-FLIGHT FROM ABUJA TO US

A Nigerian family has appealed for public assistance following the unexplained death of their mother aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight from Abuja to Washington DC, United States.

The family, who chose to remain anonymous, took to social media to request information from anyone who might have witnessed events leading up to the woman’s death inside the aircraft.

In a video shared on X, one of the deceased’s daughters urged fellow passengers on the flight to come forward, stressing that their mother was healthy prior to the journey. She added that repeated inquiries to Ethiopian Airlines have so far yielded no satisfactory explanation.

She said, “Our mother boarded Ethiopian Airlines Flight ET 950 on January 19, 2026, from Abuja to Washington DC but tragically died on board. She was not sick before the flight, yet the airline has refused to provide details about what happened.

“We are asking anyone who travelled on the same flight or airline staff who assisted her to please reach out to us. Even those who administered first aid have reportedly been warned not to speak with the family. Please contact us at Princeucheadiele@yahoo.com if you have any information about our mother’s death.”

The family’s appeal has gone viral online, drawing calls from Nigerians for transparency and accountability from the airline and relevant authorities.

In response, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) spokesperson Michael Achimugu confirmed the regulator is actively engaging both the family and Ethiopian Airlines.

“The NCAA is aware of this case. We are in contact with the family and the airline. Ethiopian Airlines has submitted their report, and we are awaiting documents from the family. We speak with them almost daily and are committed to ensuring full closure,” Achimugu said.

Attempts to reach Ethiopian Airlines for comment via their communications strategist, Ikechi Uko, were not successful as he was unavailable at the time of reporting.
