APC E-REGISTRATION HITS 7 MILLION, RESCHEDULES CONGRESSES

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has recorded over 7 million members in its ongoing nationwide electronic membership registration drive.

Due to overwhelming demand and enthusiasm from both new and existing party members, the exercise, initially scheduled to end on Saturday, January 31, 2026, has been extended to February 8, 2026.

National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, disclosed this after the party’s 183rd National Working Committee (NWC) meeting in Abuja on Friday. He said the extension responds directly to calls from stakeholders across the party who requested additional time to register.

Morka stated: “The e-registration exercise is straightforward—we want as many members as possible to participate. The extension is meant to accommodate those still eager to register. As of now, we have surpassed 7 million members, and by February 8, we expect to exceed 12.5 million, God willing.”

He explained that the e-registration initiative aims to digitalise the party’s membership records, enhance data integrity, promote financial inclusion, and comply with national legal requirements. According to Morka, the APC is now the first major political party in Nigeria to fully digitalise its membership register, setting a benchmark for internal democracy and modernisation.

APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, described the exercise as “tremendously successful” and noted that the extension was in response to requests from party stakeholders, including state leaders and the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF).

Basiru said: “Many states reported that numerous members are still eager to register. Following requests, particularly from the Governors’ Forum, the NWC decided to extend the exercise.”

Morka also announced that ward congresses are scheduled for Wednesday, February 18, 2026, while the National Convention will hold from March 27–28, 2026. He added that Osun and Ekiti States, as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), are excluded from the congresses due to upcoming elections, while Rivers State is excluded because of the tenure of its current executive committees.

He further stated that details regarding the updated timetable for the Congress and National Convention, including the composition of the National Convention Planning Committee, will be released on Monday.
