The All Progressives Congress (APC) has removed Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as Chairman of the Central Coordination Committee for its 2026 National Convention and appointed former Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari in his place.

Governor Uzodimma, who was originally named to lead the committee, has been reassigned to serve as Treasurer of the expanded body.
The party also increased the committee’s membership from 73 to 90 to accommodate more stakeholders and ensure broader representation.

Among the newly added members is Senator Barry Mpigi and several other prominent APC chieftains.
According to the APC, the leadership change and membership expansion form part of the revised structure for the 2026 National Convention Central Coordination Committee, reflecting zoning considerations and other strategic requirements.

The adjustments are in preparation for the party’s national convention scheduled for March 2026, during which new national officers will be elected.
The APC National Working Committee has not publicly disclosed a specific reason for replacing Governor Uzodimma as chairman, but the changes appear aimed at enhancing coordination, inclusivity, and effectiveness ahead of the convention.
Further details on the committee’s inauguration, terms of reference, and operational plan are expected to be released soon by the party leadership.
