Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to deliver tangible development and rebuild public trust in governance following his recognition as LEADERSHIP Newspaper’s Governor of the Year.

The award was presented on Thursday at the newspaper’s annual conference held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja. According to a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the LEADERSHIP annual awards celebrate individuals whose achievements have made significant national impact.

The event featured the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina Mohammed, as keynote speaker, with discussions centred on the theme, “Political Stability and Sustainable Development in Africa in an Increasingly Unstable Global System: A Roadmap for Nigeria.”

LEADERSHIP Newspaper noted that Governor Lawal was selected for his exceptional leadership, bold reforms and wide-ranging initiatives that have repositioned Zamfara State on a path of peace, progress and sustainable development. The paper described the award as recognition of the governor’s strong performance across key sectors of the state.

The statement further highlighted that Lawal’s achievements had also earned him the Sun Newspaper Governor of the Year Award and saw Zamfara emerge as the best-performing state in the Northwest during the Primary Health Care Challenge.

The governor said the honour would further motivate his administration to deepen security reforms, advance agricultural and rural development, expand infrastructure, strengthen healthcare and education, and continue investing in human capital development across Zamfara State.
