BREAKING: PANIC GRIPS THREE KWARA COMMUNITIES AFTER SUSPECTED TERROR GROUP SENDS THREAT LETTER, VOWS TO STRIKE ‘ANYTIME SOON’

Fresh panic has swept through Ira, Inaja, and Aho communities in Oyun Local Government Area, Kwara State, following the discovery of a threatening letter allegedly warning of an imminent terrorist attack.

The letter, reportedly found on Thursday morning at the Ira market area, prompted security agencies to immediately convene operational meetings with local government authorities to address the situation.

Sources familiar with the incident said the letter’s authors identified themselves as the “Nigeria Terrorist Association (NTA)”, claiming to have moved from Kaiama Local Government Area to Oyun and declaring their intent to strike the communities “anytime soon.”

Residents expressed deep concern, especially in light of the recent Woro massacre in Kaiama, where at least 162 people were reportedly killed by suspected terrorists linked to Jama’atu Ahlissunnah Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (Boko Haram).

Excerpts from the letter reportedly read:

“No Town, or place That is scared us to destroyed. We search and gathered information before we raided.”
“We heard about this town IRA ‘You people strong, and have many Powerful men to face Our Organisation.’”
“Be ready for us at any time, any date. noting Concern about your Oracle or us powerful We left Kaiama LG, we move to Ira, Inaja and Aho and town surrounded.”

Ira borders Ilemona, while Inaja and Aho lie westward along forested corridors connecting Kwara to neighboring states, areas increasingly considered vulnerable to terrorist activity.

Military sources revealed that the Nigerian Army Forward Operation Base in Ilemona has intensified patrols across the threatened communities, coordinating with other security personnel to prevent any infiltration. Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements.

The warning comes just days after a similar threat letter was issued to Dunshigogo community in Kaiama, following the deadly Woro attack on February 3, 2026, where men, women, and children—including local leaders and the Emir’s family—were killed. The Emir, Alhaji Saliu Bio Umar, escaped the massacre.

Security analysts say the attackers are linked to a Sadiku-led Boko Haram faction with operational ties to Sahel-based terrorist networks, highlighting a worrying escalation of insurgency in Kwara, previously seen as relatively safe.

As of now, state authorities and security agencies have not released an official public statement regarding the NTA threat. Residents remain anxious, fearing a repeat of the Woro tragedy.
