NIGERIAN ARRESTED IN SIERRA LEONE OVER DRUG TRAFFICKING

The Sierra Leone Police Authority has arrested a Nigerian national, Patrick Nonso, at Freetown International Airport for allegedly possessing 46 wraps of a white substance suspected to be cocaine.

According to reports from Sierraloaded on Tuesday, Nonso was apprehended on Sunday, February 22, 2026, during routine airport screening. At the time of his arrest, he was travelling with an Italian passport.

Authorities said Nonso is currently in custody and is cooperating with investigators. An inquiry has been launched to determine the source of the suspected narcotics and whether others were involved.

No formal charges have been filed yet, as forensic tests are ongoing to confirm the substance’s composition and weight. Investigators are also reviewing Nonso’s travel and immigration records as part of the probe.

Police officials confirmed that airport security fully cooperated with law enforcement, following established protocols for handling suspected controlled substances. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
