Police detectives in Ondo State have arrested 10 suspected kidnappers and recovered ransom money in Akure, the state capital, in a major breakthrough against violent crime.

Jimoh Abayomi, the state police spokesperson, said the suspects were apprehended through a combined operation involving the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Section and additional personnel deployed by the police headquarters. The operation targeted locations along Ondo Road following credible intelligence.

The arrested suspects are Muritala Muhammed (22), Mustapha Adamu (20), Usman Ibrahim (25), Amisu Aruna (28), Asiru Abdulasis (20), Abduliu Sanni (22), Ibrahim Suraju (20), Noah Isiaku (20), Abdulahi Suraju (20), and Arabi Hamet (18).

During the operation, police recovered operational motorcycles and ransom money, including partially burnt currency notes now documented as exhibits. The suspects have provided confessional statements detailing their roles within the syndicate. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the full scope of the group’s activities and identify any accomplices still at large.

The Ondo State Police Command reiterated its commitment to eliminating kidnapping and other violent crimes and urged the public to continue providing timely and credible information to aid law enforcement efforts.
