The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has disclosed that electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) collected a total of N207.49 billion from customers in December 2025. The figure was revealed in NERC’s December commercial performance factsheet, published on its website over the weekend.
According to the report, the 11 DisCos billed consumers N258.66 billion during the month, leaving a revenue shortfall of N51.17 billion. This translates to an overall collection efficiency of 80.22 per cent across the companies.

The factsheet also highlighted the utilities’ billing efficiency. Of the N309.65 billion worth of electricity received from the grid in December, only N258.66 billion was successfully billed, giving a billing efficiency of 83.53 per cent. The average revenue realised by DisCos stood at N98.97 per kilowatt-hour, compared with the allowed tariff of N124.30 per kilowatt-hour, resulting in a revenue recovery efficiency of 79.62 per cent.
A breakdown of revenue collection by company showed:
Abuja Electricity Distribution Company: N38.11 billion collected from N46.68 billion billed (81.64% efficiency)
Ikeja Electric: N36.20 billion collected from N43.41 billion billed (83.38% efficiency)
Eko Electricity Distribution Company: N38.01 billion collected from N41.41 billion billed (91.79% efficiency)

Benin Electricity Distribution Company: N18.38 billion collected from N21.53 billion billed
Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company: N17.62 billion collected from N21.6 billion billed
Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company: N23.60 billion collected from N28.34 billion billed
Enugu Electricity Distribution Company: N17.57 billion collected from N23.08 billion billed
Kano Electricity Distribution Company: N8.98 billion collected from N15.64 billion billed (57.45% efficiency)
Yola Electricity Distribution Company: N3.55 billion collected from N4.25 billion billed
Jos Electricity Distribution Company: N5.43 billion collected from N12.67 billion billed, recording the lowest collection efficiency of 42.92%
Data for Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company was unavailable due to an ongoing upgrade of its billing system to meet regulatory standards.
