Abuja – President Bola Tinubu has expressed his condolences to the family, colleagues, and associates of High Chief Festus Adegboye Onigbinde, the renowned football administrator and former head coach of the Super Eagles, who passed away on Monday at the age of 88.

In a statement, President Tinubu extended sympathies to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the National Sports Commission (NSC), fellow sports professionals, and football fans who admired Chief Onigbinde’s lifelong dedication to the sport.

The President highlighted Chief Onigbinde’s significant contributions to grassroots football and his pivotal role in strengthening football administration in Nigeria. He also recalled the historic achievement of guiding the Super Eagles to the finals of the Africa Cup of Nations in 1984.

Describing Chief Onigbinde as a disciplined, visionary, and passionate football manager, President Tinubu said his legacy will be remembered for integrity and foresight in Nigerian football. He prayed for the repose of his soul and comfort for his bereaved family.
