At least 18 people were killed, and several others injured, in Falale village, Jibia Local Government Area, Katsina State, after suspected repentant bandits launched a deadly attack on Tuesday around noon.
The violence erupted when local vigilantes, on routine patrol, intercepted three suspected repentant bandits, leading to a gunfight that resulted in the neutralisation of the suspects. In retaliation, armed bandits stormed Falale village, killing at least 15 residents.

Katsina State Police spokesperson, Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed that security operatives were promptly deployed to the scene, restoring order and launching an investigation to apprehend those responsible.
Dr. Nasir Muazu, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, said the joint efforts of the police, Department of State Services (DSS), Civilian Watch (C-Watch), and community leaders successfully contained the attack, preventing further casualties and bringing peace back to the affected villages.
