Niger State Governor, Umar Bago, has declared that his administration is fully prepared to take decisive action against bandits and anyone supporting their activities.
Speaking during a visit to Borgu Local Government Area, the governor issued a stern warning to those involved in banditry or providing them with shelter, urging them to come forward and identify themselves to security agencies.
His remarks come amid growing concerns over the impact of insecurity on communities across the state. During the visit, Bago met with the Emir of Borgu and other traditional leaders to discuss the challenges posed by banditry, particularly its effect on education and agriculture.

He noted that criminal activities have forced the closure of schools in some areas, while farmers are unable to safely access their land, significantly affecting livelihoods and slowing down development.
The governor also revealed that his administration has received support from the Federal Government and international partners to strengthen security operations. According to him, the collaboration will help improve efforts to protect communities and tackle criminal groups more effectively.
“We are fully ready to confront bandits, and we have already started. We have received enough support to do what is necessary,” he said.
Bago stressed that addressing insecurity requires not just military action but also cooperation from local communities, adding that residents have a key role to play in helping authorities identify and eliminate criminal elements.
