As Muslims across the world celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, President Bola Tinubu has extended warm congratulations to Nigerian Muslims and called for renewed dedication to the nation and humanity.
In a statement signed by his media aide, Bayo Onanuga, the President urged Muslims to carry forward the lessons of Ramadan, emphasizing virtues such as piety, empathy, selflessness, and unity beyond the holy month.

“We have a lot to draw from the noble lessons of Ramadan, especially at a time like this. We must continue to abide by the virtues of piety, selflessness, perseverance, kindness and compassion beyond this period,” he said.
President Tinubu also encouraged the faithful to extend support to the needy of all faiths, fostering national unity and solidarity, and tasked Muslim leaders to offer prayers for peace and prosperity across Nigeria.
Earlier, the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, approved Friday as the official day for Eid-el-Fitr, congratulating Muslims on completing Ramadan successfully and urging continued prayers for national development.
The Federal Government declared Thursday, 19 March, and Friday, 20 March 2026, as public holidays to mark the celebration, with a statement from the Ministry of Interior extending warm greetings and heartfelt congratulations to the Muslim faithful.
