The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has announced plans to arraign former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, over multiple corruption-related charges.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the commission’s spokesperson, John Odey, El-Rufai will be prosecuted alongside one Joel Adoga at the Federal High Court in Kaduna. The charges include money laundering, conversion, and unlawful possession of public property.

The ICPC also revealed that a separate case has been filed against El-Rufai and another individual, Amadu Sule, before a Kaduna State High Court. This second case involves allegations of abuse of office, fraud, intent to commit fraud, and conferring undue advantage.
Both cases were filed on March 18, 2026, while the date for arraignment at the state high court is yet to be announced.
El-Rufai has been in custody since February 16, 2026, after honouring an invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. He was initially questioned by the EFCC for 48 hours before being transferred to the ICPC.
His continued detention has sparked public reactions, with several individuals and groups calling on authorities to either formally charge him or release him in line with the law.
