IRAN DENIES TALKS WITH US AFTER TRUMP POSTPONES STRIKES ON POWER GRID

Iran has dismissed claims that it is engaged in negotiations with the United States, contradicting statements made by Donald Trump about ongoing discussions to ease tensions in the Middle East.

Trump had earlier suggested that productive talks were taking place with Iranian officials, prompting him to delay a planned strike on Iran’s power grid. However, Iranian authorities strongly denied any such engagement, with parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf describing the claims as false and accusing the U.S. of attempting to manipulate global markets.

Despite the denial, diplomatic sources indicated that indirect communication may be ongoing, with countries like Egypt, Pakistan, and Gulf states reportedly acting as intermediaries. There are also suggestions that potential talks could take place in Islamabad in the coming days.

Meanwhile, tensions remain high as Iran’s Revolutionary Guard launched fresh attacks targeting Israeli cities, including Tel Aviv, as well as U.S. military positions in the region. In response, Israel confirmed missile interceptions and signaled its intention to continue military operations.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that while military actions would persist, there remains a possibility of reaching a deal that aligns with strategic interests.

The conflict has also disrupted global energy markets, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for oil shipments. Iran has indicated it will not reopen the passage until attacks by the U.S. and Israel cease.

With over 2,000 reported casualties since the escalation began, efforts to reduce tensions continue through regional diplomacy, even as uncertainty surrounds the prospects for direct negotiations.
