EFCC SEALS MALAMI’S ABUJA HOUSE.

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday moved to take over a property in Maitama, Abuja, linked to former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.

The officers, said to be led by Folarin Dare, arrived in multiple buses and blocked access to the residence. Dressed in official gear and heavily armed, they cordoned off the area, preventing entry into the property.

The action is believed to be connected to an ongoing corruption investigation involving the former minister. Sources indicate that the EFCC is acting based on an interim forfeiture order granted by a court, which authorises the agency to take control of the property pending further legal proceedings.

Reacting to the development, Malami described the operation as politically motivated, linking it to his governorship ambition. He also alleged that EFCC operatives harassed members of his family during the exercise.

According to him, the officers claimed they were there to deliver invitation letters but extended their actions to other properties and business premises associated with him.

Malami maintained that he has followed due legal process and insisted that the agency’s actions were unjustified. He also questioned the timing of the operation, noting that it coincided with visits from prominent political figures.

As of now, the EFCC has not released an official statement regarding the incident. The development is expected to spark further political and legal debate as investigations continue.
