The All Progressives Congress (APC) has assured aspirants contesting for positions in its National Working Committee (NWC) that the screening process ahead of its 2026 national convention will be transparent and fair.
This assurance was given on Monday in Abuja by Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, who chairs the party’s Aspirants’ Screening Sub-committee, during the panel’s inaugural meeting.
The party’s convention, scheduled for March 27 and 28 in Abuja, is expected to produce key national officers as the APC prepares for the 2027 general elections.

Oyebanji said the committee would strictly follow the party’s constitution, established guidelines, and the provisions of the Electoral Act, stressing that no aspirant should fear bias or victimisation.
“We are going to be transparent, fair, and just to all aspirants. Everything will be done in line with the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act, so there is no cause for concern,” he said.
Also speaking, the committee’s co-chairman and Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Ododo, expressed confidence in the panel’s ability to carry out its responsibilities effectively. He noted that the outcome of the process would have lasting implications for leadership and governance.

According to him, the screening exercise goes beyond internal party politics, as it helps shape the future direction of leadership in the country.
The screening process is a key part of the party’s internal electoral system. It involves verifying the qualifications of aspirants, confirming their eligibility, and assessing their suitability for leadership roles.
The exercise is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, March 24, at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja, where aspirants are expected to present their documents for verification.
Those cleared from the screening will go on to contest at the national convention, where party delegates will elect members of the NWC.
The convention is seen as a major step for the APC as it works to strengthen its leadership structure and present a united front ahead of future elections.
