GUNMEN KILL SIX, INCLUDING PREGNANT WOMAN, IN FRESH KOGI ATTACKS

Suspected herdsmen have killed at least six people, including a pregnant woman, in separate attacks across communities in Kogi State, raising fresh concerns over insecurity in the North Central region.

The latest attack occurred on Tuesday in Idrisu community along Bagana Road in Omala Local Government Area, where two women were reportedly killed during a raid by gunmen. One of the victims was said to be pregnant, throwing the community into mourning.

Residents say fear has gripped the area, with many calling on security agencies to step in urgently to prevent further violence.

The incident comes amid a series of similar attacks in Dekina Local Government Area, where four farmers were killed earlier in the week in separate incidents. The victims, from Okete and Egume communities, were reportedly ambushed while working on their farms.

Locals say the repeated attacks have made farming increasingly dangerous, threatening both livelihoods and food supply in the area.

“These killings are becoming too frequent. Our people are no longer safe on their farms or even in their homes,” a resident said.

The latest violence has once again highlighted the growing insecurity facing rural communities in Kogi State, particularly farming areas where residents remain vulnerable to armed attacks.
