El-Rufai Released from ICPC Custody, Returns to Abuja Residence
Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has been released from the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
Following his release, the former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) returned to his Abuja residence, where he was received by family members and close associates. He has since begun receiving visitors offering condolences over the death of his mother.
El-Rufai was reportedly granted temporary bail to allow him attend the funeral rites of his mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, who passed away in Cairo, Egypt, on Friday.
Confirmation of his release initially came through a now-deleted post on X by his son, Bashir El-Rufai, who expressed gratitude for the support shown to the family during the period of detention.
The development marks a new turn in the ongoing legal issues involving the former governor, as proceedings related to the allegations against him are still expected to continue.
In a notable gesture of humanity over politics, the Tinubu-led APC administration has allowed Nasir El-Rufai temporary release on compassionate grounds to mourn his mother.
