The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially recognised the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) headed by Abdulrahman Mohammed.

Mohammed’s faction, supported by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, now has its leadership formally listed on INEC’s website. Other recognised members include Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary, Ahmed Mohammed as National Treasurer, Daniel Woyengikuro as National Financial Secretary, and Kamaldeen Adeyemi Ajibade, SAN, as National Legal Adviser.

This announcement follows the PDP’s national convention held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, where over 2,000 delegates from all 36 states elected the NWC members. Prominent attendees included ex-Senate President Bukola Saraki, former governors Ayodele Fayose, Okezie Ikpeazu, Samuel Ortom, and Senator Natasha Akpoti.

The PDP has been divided into two factions, with the Kabiru Turaki-led group previously seeking Supreme Court intervention to block the Wike camp’s convention. Speaking at the event, Wike highlighted that the party has overcome the leadership crisis, stating, “We fought against proponents of ethnic and geographic divisions and restored the party to its rightful owners—the people. Loyal grassroots members have kept the party stable despite the infidelity of opportunistic elites.”

With INEC’s recognition, the Mohammed-led PDP appears poised to move forward in preparation for the 2027 elections.
