Prominent leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have arrived at the residence of Rabiu Kwankwaso in Kano ahead of his expected defection to the party.
Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State, confirmed the development in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, where he expressed excitement at receiving the visiting political figures. He shared photos of the gathering, describing the guests as distinguished leaders and statesmen from across the country.

Among those in attendance were the ADC National Chairman and former Senate President, David Mark; former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal; former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; Senator Dino Melaye; and former APC National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, among others.
The delegation was received at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport by the immediate past Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Gwarzo, before proceeding to Kwankwaso’s residence.

Kwankwaso is expected to formally join the ADC alongside several political allies, including Gwarzo, Senator Rufa’i Hanga, and Kano State party chairman, Hashim Dungurawa.
His move follows his resignation from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), which he announced earlier. In his statement, Kwankwaso described the decision as difficult but necessary, citing the need for strategic political realignment in response to the current direction of the country’s political landscape.
He also expressed gratitude to the leadership and members of the NNPP for their support during his time in the party, acknowledging their role in his political journey.
