Police authorities confirmed the incident, noting that investigations are ongoing to determine the full details, including the exact number of those kidnapped.

According to a local community leader, the attackers struck late at night, arriving in large numbers and opening fire on guests at the event. Many victims sustained gunshot wounds and were taken to nearby medical facilities, while those critically injured were transferred to hospitals in Kaduna for advanced treatment.

Residents reported that the gunmen operated for nearly an hour without resistance. During the attack, they also looted nearby shops, carting away food supplies, provisions, and medical items from a local chemist.

Security operatives have since launched a manhunt to track down those responsible and bring them to justice.

Kaduna is among several North-West states battling persistent bandit attacks, alongside Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, and Katsina. In addition to banditry, other armed groups have intensified violence in parts of the region, carrying out raids, stealing livestock, and imposing levies on local communities.

Efforts by the government and military to curb the violence have so far produced limited success, despite ongoing operations and international support aimed at strengthening security and combating insurgent activities.
