TINUBU APPOINTS NEW PTDF BOSS, RENEWS TCN MD’S TENURE

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Professor Shu’aib Aliyu as the new Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF).

The appointment was announced in a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Aliyu takes over from Ahmed Aminu, who stepped down from the role to pursue his governorship ambition in Adamawa State ahead of the 2027 elections. He is described as an experienced academic and administrator with a strong background in research and institutional leadership.

According to the Presidency, his appointment reflects Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening key institutions in the petroleum sector and boosting human capacity development in Nigeria’s energy industry. He is expected to drive innovation and reposition the PTDF to better support the oil and gas sector.

In a related development, the President also approved the reappointment of Sule Abdulaziz as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) for a second and final term.

The government said the decision followed a review of Abdulaziz’s performance, noting improvements in grid stability, expansion of transmission capacity, and ongoing system modernisation under his leadership. His role in advancing regional electricity integration through the West African Power Pool was also highlighted.

Both appointments take immediate effect, with President Tinubu urging the appointees to serve with diligence and integrity in line with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
