A student of the University of Jos, Abel Joro, has died after suffering serious injuries during the recent violence in Anguwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Joro, described by those who knew him as full of life and promise, passed away in the Intensive Care Unit of the Jos University Teaching Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment since the attack.
His death was confirmed on Monday by Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo of the Church of Christ in Nations, who expressed deep grief over the loss.

He said the young student fought hard to survive but eventually succumbed to his injuries, describing the situation as painful and heartbreaking for the family and community.
The cleric also lamented the recurring violence in Plateau State, questioning why innocent lives continue to be lost and calling attention to the emotional toll on affected families.
Earlier reports indicated that other members of the university community were also caught up in the attack, including students and a staff member.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university was said to have visited survivors currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
Joro’s death adds to the growing number of casualties linked to the Anguwan Rukuba crisis, which has heightened fear among residents and within the university community.
The incident has triggered renewed calls for urgent government intervention, with students and concerned Nigerians urging authorities to strengthen security in Jos, especially around the university.
The University of Jos Alumni Association has also called for tighter security measures, including increased patrols and improved intelligence gathering, to protect lives and property o¹n campus.
