The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 47 suspects and seized firearms, vehicles, and other items during extensive operations targeting criminal hideouts across the state.

Commissioner of Police Tijani Olayiwola Fatai shared the details at a press briefing in Ikeja, attributing the success to intelligence-led policing and strong collaboration with residents.
Fatai highlighted that strategic deployment of personnel to worship centres, highways, and recreational areas helped ensure a peaceful and incident-free Easter celebration, with improved security presence contributing to the calm.

The recent operations yielded 14 firearms, including locally made pistols and pump-action guns, alongside dozens of live rounds of ammunition. Other recovered items included 14 vehicles, laptops, mobile phones, and additional evidence tied to criminal activities.
Among notable arrests, a suspected armed robber was apprehended in Amukoko with a pistol, cartridges, and suspected charms. In Ajegunle, a 23-year-old alleged cultist linked to the Aiye Confraternity was arrested with a firearm.

During a raid on a hotel in Ajao Estate, 21 suspects believed to be cult members were detained, with a firearm, laptops, and multiple mobile phones recovered. Efforts continue to apprehend a key figure associated with the group.
The police also foiled a N20 million extortion attempt in Ojokoro, arresting an 18-year-old suspect during a decoy operation and recovering a laptop and flash drive. Additionally, five suspects involved in vehicle theft and resale were apprehended, with two stolen vehicles recovered.
Operations across Lekki, Ikotun, Egbeda, Iba, and Egbin led to further arrests of individuals linked to armed robbery, vehicle vandalism, and illegal possession of firearms.

Investigators uncovered a major fraud case involving a 62-year-old suspect accused of defrauding a microfinance bank of N130 million, which was used to acquire luxury vehicles. Six of these vehicles, valued at over N520 million, have been recovered.
Further raids in Ogba and Ifako-Ijaiye resulted in the arrest of suspected cultists and the seizure of illicit drugs and weapons.
Fatai reaffirmed the command’s commitment to aggressive crime-fighting, increased visibility policing, and community engagement to maintain safety across Lagos State.
