A medical doctor, Dr Ere Ogbachi, has died in Bayelsa State following complications that occurred after she successfully delivered triplets.

Her death was confirmed in a Facebook statement on Wednesday by her brother, Meshack Sintei, who disclosed that she passed away at about 2:45 am on April 14, 2026, while receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa.
According to the family, Dr Ogbachi developed medical complications shortly after childbirth at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital in Okolobiri, prompting an emergency transfer to FMC Yenagoa for intensive care.

The statement explained that medical personnel made sustained efforts to stabilise her condition, but her health deteriorated rapidly in the ICU despite intervention. The family described her final moments as distressing, noting that her oxygen levels reportedly dropped critically during treatment.
Dr Ogbachi was described as a dedicated medical professional, a mother of triplets, and a registrar at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital, as well as a member of the Nigerian Medical Association.

Her family expressed deep sorrow over her passing, describing her as a committed and hardworking individual who fought for her life until the end.
Efforts to obtain official confirmation from hospital authorities were still ongoing at the time of filing this report.
