Armed fighters linked to Boko Haram and ISWAP launched a late-night assault on Benisheikh in Borno State, heightening security concerns along the Maiduguri–Damaturu axis.
The attack reportedly began around 11 p.m. on Tuesday in Benisheikh, the headquarters of Kaga Local Government Area, as residents experienced renewed fear over escalating insecurity in the region.

Security sources indicated that the attackers moved in the direction of the 29 Task Force Brigade under Operation Hadin Kai, a formation that has previously been targeted in similar incidents.
The assault raised concerns due to its proximity to a location that had earlier witnessed deadly confrontations involving military personnel.

Eyewitness accounts also suggested heightened military aerial surveillance, with fighter jets and helicopters seen operating over Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, located about 75 kilometres from the affected community.
The renewed attack comes amid ongoing military efforts to contain insurgent activities in the North-East, where both Boko Haram and ISWAP factions remain active.

Benisheikh sits along the strategic Maiduguri–Damaturu Road, a key route in the region frequently affected by security disruptions.
Authorities are yet to release an official update on casualties or the extent of damage following the latest incident.
