EDO ADC FACTION SUSPENDS OYEGUN, OSUNBOR, OTHERS

A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Edo State has announced the suspension of former Edo State Governor and party national leader, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, alongside several other prominent party figures over alleged anti-party activities and insubordination.

Others affected by the suspension include Senator Osareimen Osunbor, Senator Yisa Braimah, Senator Ehigie Uzamare, Hon. Nosa Ehima, Hon. Sylvester Ewanehi, Tony Alile, Jafaru Sumaila, Stella Alli, Igieogbe Asemota, and Christopher Ojeikere.

The faction said the decision was taken in line with provisions of the party’s constitution, citing articles relating to discipline, conduct, and internal party order.

In a statement, the factional chairman, Kennedy Odion, alleged that the suspended members violated party directives, engaged in activities considered disruptive, and acted in ways capable of causing disaffection within the party structure.

He added that the affected individuals are barred from attending party meetings, participating in party activities, or representing the ADC in any capacity, although they retain the right to appeal the decision through internal procedures.

Odion stated that the disciplinary action takes immediate effect.

However, reacting to the development, a rival faction led by Tony Alile rejected the suspension, insisting that Kennedy Odion had already been expelled by the party’s National Working Committee.

The Alile-led group accused Odion of acting under external influence and dismissed his claims as an attempt to destabilise the party structure.

The internal dispute highlights ongoing leadership tensions within the Edo ADC, with both factions continuing to assert authority over the party’s state structure.
