A Nigerian man based in the United Kingdom, identified as Herbert, has reportedly been found dead in his apartment in Thornaby, leaving behind his wife and three children.
According to reports, Herbert died in his sleep last week, a development that has left his family, friends, and community deeply shocked.

Sources indicate that he had been under significant emotional and financial strain following the recent death of his father in Nigeria. He was reportedly unable to travel for the burial but contributed financially to ensure his father received a proper funeral.
Tragically, it was further reported that Herbert passed away around the same period his father was being laid to rest in Nigeria.

A social media user known as “The Stress Manager” shared that the situation has been particularly devastating for the family, noting that Herbert’s children were the ones who discovered him unresponsive in the apartment while their mother was not at home at the time.
The report described the incident as deeply traumatic for the children and highlighted the sudden hardship now faced by the widow, who is left to care for three young children while also managing funeral arrangements and the repatriation of her husband’s body to Nigeria.

A former leader of Nigerians in the United Kingdom, Benjamin Kuti, also confirmed the incident and called on members of the Nigerian community in the UK to support the bereaved family.
A fundraising campaign has since been launched to assist with expenses, with donations aimed at covering funeral costs and transporting his remains back to Nigeria. As of the latest update, about £2,633 has been raised toward a £7,000 target.
