ANGWA-RUKUBA KILLINGS: PLATEAU GOVT FILES CHARGES AGAINST 5 SUSPECTS ARRESTED BY DSS

The Plateau State Government has filed multiple charges against five suspects arrested in connection with the deadly March 2026 attack in Angwa-Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area, where over 30 people were reportedly killed.

The suspects, who were arrested between April 3 and April 10 by the Department of State Services (DSS), are facing charges bordering on criminal conspiracy, terrorism-related offences, culpable homicide, illegal possession of firearms, and arms trafficking.

According to the charge sheet filed by the State Attorney General, Philemon Audu Daffi, the accused persons allegedly planned, financed, and coordinated the attack that left several communities in mourning.

The government said the suspects include Isa Umar Ibrahim, Auwalu Abubakar (also known as Auwalu Dogo), Musa Abubakar Ibrahim (also known as Yaroro), and Adamu Isa Alhassan, while another suspect, Ado Ibrahim, is currently at large.

Prosecutors allege that the group met in Farin Gada, Jos North, where they conspired and mobilised resources for the March 28, 2025 attack on Angwa-Rukuba, which resulted in mass casualties.

In a separate charge, Adamu Isa Alhassan is accused of participating in multiple violent attacks across Riyom and Jos South LGAs between 2025 and early 2026. He is also alleged to have worked with other suspects still on the run to carry out killings in several rural communities.

Authorities say the offences violate provisions of the Plateau State Penal Code Law, 2017, and are punishable under Sections 269 and 270.

The legal action comes weeks after President Bola Tinubu visited Plateau State, where he met victims of the attacks and pledged federal support for justice and security restoration.

The state government has insisted that the prosecution is part of ongoing efforts to ensure accountability and deter further violence in affected communities.

The case is expected to proceed before the competent court in the coming weeks as security agencies continue efforts to apprehend suspects still at large.
