ADC RAISES ALARM: ALLEGES APC PLOT TO SABOTAGE OPPOSITION SUMMIT IN IBADAN

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is planning to disrupt a scheduled opposition summit taking place in Ibadan, Oyo State.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, accused the ruling party of targeting opposition gatherings and attempting to frustrate their political activities across the country.

He claimed the alleged interference follows earlier instances where opposition parties were reportedly denied access to venues in Abuja for similar meetings.

“We have uncovered plans by the ruling APC to disrupt the summit being held by opposition parties in Ibadan today, April 25,” Abdullahi said. “After denying us the use of venues in Abuja, they now will not leave us alone to hold our meetings.”

He further argued that such actions reflect fear rather than confidence from the ruling party.

“They say they are not scared, but their actions show otherwise. However, we will not be deterred because we are on the side of the Nigerian people,” he added.

The ADC spokesperson also referenced earlier tensions involving the party’s activities in the Federal Capital Territory, where he alleged that the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, pressured the management of Rainbow Event Centre to withdraw approval for the party’s convention venue.

Despite the controversy, the ADC maintained that it would proceed with its activities as planned, insisting that no form of intimidation would alter its political agenda.

The party’s recent convention, which eventually held at the Rainbow Event Centre, attracted several prominent political figures, including former Senate President David Mark, ex-governors, and leading opposition politicians.

However, the event was also reported to have experienced logistical challenges, including concerns raised by delegates over ventilation and faulty air conditioning systems at the venue.
