Dominic Calvert-Lewin barely had time to finish celebrating before the mood at Elland Road shifted into full belief mode, as Leeds United fans began chanting “we are staying up.”
The striker capitalised on a costly error from Martin Dubravka to score Leeds’ third goal in a convincing 3–1 win over Burnley, a result that has all but secured the club’s Premier League status for next season.
The victory lifts Leeds to 14th place, nine points clear of the relegation zone with just three games left to play. While survival is not yet mathematically confirmed, history strongly favours them—no team has ever been relegated from a 38-game Premier League season after reaching 43 points.
Defender Ethan Ampadu admitted the team is in a strong position heading into the final stretch.
“We wanted to get revenge against Burnley and hit 43 points. Now we’ve given ourselves a real chance with three games to go,” he said.

Leeds could officially secure survival with a win over Tottenham in their next fixture, but even without it, the odds are firmly in their favour. The teams below them still have games in hand, but their maximum possible points totals may not be enough to catch Leeds.
Much of this turnaround has been credited to manager Daniel Farke, whose tactical switch earlier in the season proved to be a turning point. After a narrow defeat to Manchester City in November, Farke changed formation—bringing in Calvert-Lewin and adding more presence in midfield—which sparked a strong run of form.
Since then, Leeds have lost just four of their last 19 league games, climbing steadily away from danger.
While fans are already celebrating, a few results still stand between Leeds and official safety. But barring a dramatic collapse, Premier League football looks set to remain at Elland Road next season.
