The factional Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Nafi’u Bala, has denied reports claiming he expressed regret over his role in the party’s internal crisis or alleged that his life was under threat.

Bala, who was the party’s 2023 governorship candidate in Gombe State, reacted to a publication suggesting he had spoken about regret and rising tensions within the party.
The report had quoted him as saying he did not anticipate the scale of the fallout from the party’s leadership disagreements and that the situation had become overwhelming.
However, in a statement released on Sunday, Bala dismissed the claims as false and deliberately misleading, insisting he never granted any interview or authorised anyone to speak on his behalf.

He explained that his actions within the party followed due process after the resignation of the former National Chairman, Ralph Nwosu, on July 2, 2025, and rejected any suggestion that he had stepped back from his position or expressed regret.
Bala also denied allegations that he or his family were facing threats, describing such claims as baseless and intended to attract public sympathy and distort the ongoing political situation.

He further addressed references linking Leke Abejide to the controversy, stating that he neither accused the lawmaker of abandonment nor inducement, though he acknowledged Abejide’s exit as a loss to the party.
Reaffirming his stance, Bala said the dispute remains before the Federal High Court and insisted he has no intention of withdrawing the case or settling it out of court.

He maintained that his position is grounded in the ADC constitution and accused those behind the report of spreading political propaganda aimed at influencing public opinion and judicial proceedings.
Bala urged the public and media to disregard the publication, warning that he would continue to respond only through lawful channels.
